These people are similar in disposition to that of Stich as in the Disney movie Lilo and Stich.

As Jamba said "His destructive programming is taking effect. He will be irresistibly drawn to large cities, where he will back up sewers, reverse street signs, and steal everyone's left shoe."

Actually most viruses, trojans and alike are created to exploit, gather information, for data mining purposes and even to wage electronic war.

Seldom are exploits created by "bored kids" in their basement. The same goes for spam - each weird message you receive in your mailbox has a malitious intent - watch for the embeded graphics (some a pixel wide) transmiting your computer IP address for further attacks, phishing attempts to lure you onto websites designed to collect personal information, social engineering attempts and so on.

For a well documented summary see

    Hope this helps

I think they just hate everyone, and want to make people suffer at their mean-ness.

Some people actually believe viruses are made by the companies who make ANTI-virus software...Just something to ponder, Josh.

These individuals are frustrated computer programmer freak genius's that lack a recognized legitimate medium for expressing their talents....

most are males that have been sexually abused from childhood...

personality traits are similar to those of Nancy Pelosi (Speaker of the House) and Harry Reid (Majority leader)...

They will be at the head of the line for Barrack Obama on election day...

    Hope the info helps...

    regards

A lot of viruses, worms, denial of service attacks, etc. originate in third world, China and members of the old Soviet Union.

I have heard (I used to work in computer security in the 1980's and 1990's) that the Russian mafia was very active in defrauding financial institutions. Some of the large banks were hit for large dollars but were reluctant to admit losses.

Today's computer systems and the Internet were designed as open systems with security added on as an afterthought. The old IBM "mainframe" architecture was very secure but it did not easily support networking, video, etc. and it was costly to acquire, implement and support.

I made a good living writing code and supervising an IT department back in the 1970's.

Today, as a general rule, if it is connected to the Internet, it can be hacked. There are just so many entry points into networks that have to be secured and all it takes is carelessness on behalf of the administrators to leave an opening. Once inside a network, viruses and worms may use the internal features of UNIX and Windows to create havoc.

Most fraud used to be, and probably still is, internal. Most application systems have complex additional security that outsiders simply cannot penetrate. Yet, say a financial system generates a file of electronic money transfers, if a hacker can identify the file; he can try and change a bank routing and account number. Check sums, counting the total number of bits, and other techniques are used to prevent this.

Did I mention that IT professionals can be bribed or coerced to perform illegal activity? We fired one manager who made unauthorized tape files of customer information and cut a hole in the parking lot fence so that he could hand the tapes over to an accomplice. Today, he could e-mail the data to himself or carry it out on a flash drive memory stick.

As memory serves, one of the first viruses was a file virus created using IBM DOS (before windows). When the offending file was analyzed, it was found to be an advertisement for a computer repair shop in Bombay, India.

I love to watch the old War Games movie. There is a lot of truth in that movie.
