What kind of duck?

    yes Rick. It is a common merganser

    I see this repeated several times a week on the river in fornt of my house. the Mergansers catch too big a fish and try to "whack it" into comotose by slapping it on the water. At the same time swimming to the ice as a place to eat thedamn thing.

    I can tell a mallard from a teal but that's about it for me and ducks.

    I didn't know a duck would eat a fish.

    Ducks that eat vegetation are tasty. Ducks that eat water creatures are not.

    Pretty easy.

    It is a Common Merganser. That would a nice mount for the den. Mounted with the fish in his mouth!
