About $3.27 a box for one oz. and $3.5l a box for l and l/8th. oz. loads. I bought up lead when it was down to 25 dollars a bag this summer. Hope it lasts until it drops again. Good Luck and Break-em all. Jeff

I had not checked in a bit, but it looks like an accurate cost right now for me is 3.35 a box for 1 oz, 3.53 for 1-1/8.

That is using Westcoast hard shot, Downrange wads, Winchester 209, STS hulls, 700X powder. I bought a ton of lead at 22.90, but it won't last forever.

I'm reloading 1 oz for $3.35 and 11/8 for $3.59. This is using lead I bought in January of 2009 for $25.60 plus claybuster wads and Nobel Sports primers along with Red Dot. The prices don't include tax and nothing is added for hull cost. Last I heard lead in my area is $32.95 for magnum.

About $4.50 using 7/8 ounce Lawrence mag shot, red dot, win 209, claybuster wads. Half the cost is shot, @ $40 for 25 lb. It's all I could find in north ms. Hoping to get some reclaimed next month, should get closer to $3 per box. Still cheaper than wal-mart and easier on the shoulder.

My cost is around $3.97 for a 12ga round that replicates a Remington STS round.

I'm sure that my cost per box will drop quite a bit when I factor in the free 2500 wads I'm receiving from Downrange Mfg for their New Year's giveaway. :)

    Hi

Info below reloading 12ga 1 1/8 oz with 17grs powder.

Based on reloading supply costs quoted 1/1/2010 using Federal primers, Winchester wads, Red Dot powder and Lawrence Magnum brand shot $.17/shell not counting hull.

Based on reloading supply cost quoted 1/1/2010 using RIO primers, Claybuster wads, Promo powder and Eagle Magnum brand shot $.14/shell not counting hull.

Save penny shell for 1oz and two cents 7/8oz.

    Regards

check your email 2barrelpa. I sent you some instructions on how to access and save to your PC the reloading cost calculator. It is a neat tool that some folks don't know exists and it is right on the TS frt page

21.7 red dot, 1oz, 12s3 wad or winjammer. Fed paper hull or Active, Fed 209 primer = cost of 3.78 per box. I buy shot for $23.00

I spend a lot of effort calculating costs for others. The direct costs of materials is just a small part of the total costs for producing something. If someone would like to know the real costs, just send me the information on your loader and other loading accessories, the square feet of your house devoted to loading and storing components, your property taxes, all utility costs and home insurance costs. Then I need to know the distance you travel to get components and how many trips you make a year.

I would be pleased to do this for anyone at my normal fee.

You also need to figure in the cost of maintenance for the reloading building(snow removal, lawn service, the damned heat pump that will probably die at any moment, etc.), and the cost of feeding a live-in security team. Labor problems being what they are, I got smart and supplemented the security team with a two-year old lab that the trainer promised would make a dandy guard dog when she isn't out bird hunting. I think my reloads are about $56/box.
