OK, this item was given to a friend of mine by his grandmother after his grandfather passed. He is trying to find any info he can on it & the local info is kind of sketchy.
It is a pump action with a 28 inch barrel....
There are dates and a name on the barrel but it is faded and difficult to be sure what it says.
Looks like Marlin.... dates look like 1896 & two others are 18something....Please see pics and any info would be appreciated.
And this is not for sale at this time.
Thanks in advance for any info......

It's an 1898 Marlin pump action hammer shotgun. It was made to compete with the 1897 Winchester hammer pump. These are NOT SAFE to shoot with modern ammo! THe bolt can blow back and make a serious hole in your head!! No real value unless mint and engraved. This gun is worth maybe $150. Hang it on the wall. Do NOT shoot it.
