    Hey Smoke,
I have a Ljutic X73 and love it. It was rebuilt and blued by Doug Braker.
Mine has a .735 bore and a .710 barrel choke for IM. Solidly breaks birds
at the 25 yard line. Was shipped from factory 12-17-1973. Looks brand new.
Mine has a fairly flat rib that tapers down to the muzzle. Hits about 70/30.
Maybe even slightly higher. Have not had time to put it on the pattern board.
They were made more for the mass market from what I understand.
The Mono had various raised ribs, higher then mine. They also had a
shrouded breech. Mine is flat. Trigger group removable on both.
Mine also has a JS Air Cushion Stock.
I've shot a couple of Mono's but would not trade mine for anything.
The X73's also sold for less then the Mono, I think mainly to compete
with the BT99's at the time. Hence the lower rib style. But if you find a
tight one at a good price, you can't beat it.
Bought mine as a backup to my CG Maxum Combo. But, if I could only shoot one
of them, would still pick my unsingle CG. By the same token, if the CG
broke, I would have the utmost confidence in shooting the Ljutic.
I also have a BT99 Golden Clays with all the bells and whistles. The Ljutic
beats it hands down. Not sure what Al Ljutic did with his barrels but
    they really break birds.
    Hope this helps.

Main diff is Fore arm attachment. Otherwise pretty much the same. Al came out with the 73 for a lower price point, but they turned out to cost the same to mfg.

About $300 in 1973. The stocks are interchangable with Monoguns built in the same era.

Big Heap, I will have to differ with you on the price of the Ljutic 73. I looked at a few at our local Gunshop in 1973. If I remember correctly they were around $995. I drooled over them but bought a new Mod 12 for $395. Larry Evans

FYI 73's had the shrouded breach somewhere around SN 1300 or so and most had 33" bll's...and I believe Monogun buttstocks will fit but not forends...most 73's came with very plain wood even with Ljutic's "upgrade"...mine had a fencepost on it...I fixed that... they are fabulous guns and the best value extant in a single bbl trap gun IMHO...
