There are a lot of negative comments about Obama but I have seen nothing positive about McCain? I am against Obama but he will not be beaten on negatives only. Let's start a positive thread about McCain. Any help here?

He is a war hero that has served his country with an unblemished record for fifty years.

He has years of experience in the Senate, he's a moderate centrist conservative, he is not naive when it comes to foreign powers, he will not crumble under stress, he knows that taxes are death to the economy, he believes in hard work and is opposed to entitlement programs. he can be trusted not to sell out. (He was offered an early return from the Hanoi Hilton if he would give up info, he refused and remained in prison 5 more years) He does not denigrate the US over seas and he has enough sense not to give a speech under the same damn German war victory memorial that Hitler used to garner support for Nazi socialism.

He does not believe you can trust the ChiComs, he does not believe that America should cater to Islamofacists among us and he is not a victocrat. What more do you need?

He is NOT going to UNILATERALLY shut down our nuclear defenses while the other countries keep theirs.

    He HAS common sense.

He doesn't LIE/FORGET about which committees he sits on or whether his family served in war and saved the Jews from the concentration camps.

He DOESN'T HATE races that are not his own.

He believes that the United States is a GOOD country.

He is NOT against gun ownership by Americans.

He KNOWS how many states there in America.

He understands that, while the war in Iraq may be unpopular, that WE HAVE to win and that means LISTENING to those on the front lines NOT in the morning paper or talk shows.

He KNOWS that we have to: DRILL HERE; DRILL NOW; in order to PAY LESS....now and in our future.

He KNOWS that you CANNOT tax or spend your way to Prosperity.

He KNOWS that you CAN, by raising taxes, put our economy DEEPER into trouble.

He KNOWS that the Supreme Court CANNOT legislate. (which they are trying to do even more frequently)

He KNOWS that the European experiment DOES NOT WORK.

He believes MUCH MORE that his counterpart the the American individual does NOT need Big Brother to take care of them. We ARE quite CAPABLE ourselves if big brother will just stay out of the way.

He KNOWS that America needs their OWN oil, NOT IMPORTING from countries that hate US, and giving them $700 BILLION to continue to promote it.

He does not shy away from visiting wounded GI's if he can't take his cameras to get PROPAGANDA to snow the American voter.

One of his best friends DID NOT try to BLOW UP the US Pentagon.

He DOES NOT change his religious views or church just because his handlers tell him to to get votes.

He DOES NOT think that America is the greatest country and he needs to CHANGE it. (got to love this one)

He doesn't DISRESPECT one of his parents because of their race.

Do you need some more?? While McCain was NOT my first choice; he is now my ONLY choice because of what the opposition IS DOING and WILL DO to my beloved country.

    What Bigdogtx said.

I believe that as far as a politician is concerned MeCain is the better choice if we want to still be America in 4 years. If you don't care about that we're in trouble.

McCain not my first choice but now the only choice!

i agree with most of most of what bigdogtx says except the 2nd part of the 10th one which says you can not tax or spend your way to prosperity. the spend part should have been told to the idiot that is president now. dwain

You are right Dwain. But look at budgets. They are "proposed" by presidents, changed by congress, and then sent back to the president for signature or veto. Pres. Bush didn't veto enough, because he was trying to get along. It was a BIG mistake. If the president, not just the current one, had a line item veto, they could (not that they would) cross through some of the CRAP that comes from our congress (both parties). It is illegal to buy votes with liquor, so they use dollars instead. IT HAS TO STOP!!!

John McCain is a proven leader who stands by his principles and will do what is right for the USA and not himself.

John McCain has put his life on the line many times in service for this country.

John McCain understands that this country is a superpower and that the President does not personally sit down and talk with a terrorist dictator. That is the role, when conditions warrant, of the Secretary of State.

John McCain does not view the USA as a peer of European nations. He sees the USA as the leader nation of the free world.

John McCain does not trust the Islamic Fascists or socialists dictators. He realized that their primary goal is to see the demise of the USA.

John McCain understands the horrors of war and, if war is necessary, will use adequate force to minimize causalities.

John McCain is a practical person who will change his views when warranted by a material change in facts.

John McCain will work with members of all political parties to achieve national security, fiscal responsibility and energy independence.

John McCain will select capable people to assist and advise him.

John McCain is not in love with his own image.

I wonder if those supporting Obama can explain positive AND substantial AND beneficial for the country as a WHOLE, things that Nobama is about other than he wants "change". Change just for change's sake, is not always good.

Finally, some decent, reasonable replies in this thread, given good arguments. Unlike another thread that basically said anyone not voting for McCain was an idiot. Yeah, real constructive.<br>

I'll add this to Jim and Ed's post - protection of the status quo at least, or even helping the Supreme Court go more conservative. Obama will install radical justices. Imagine him giving a nod to some of the clowns on the Ninth Circus Court?

He's a senator. He and his ilk have bestowed upon us all of which we complain. He is rich enough that these little things do not affect his life - just ours.

Reason enough not to vote for either of them. If Ron Paul and Jesse Ventura team up for an independet run, they will have no chance of winning, but they will strip the facade off both of McCain and Obama revealing them for the poor choices they are for dog-catcher much less President.

Someone summed it up nicely -

The choice between McCain and Obama is, in reality, the choice between a Democrat and a Socialist.

I'm going with McCain for the very fact that he is not an ultra right wing conservative. He is more along the lines of a moderate. Extremist being ultra right or ultra left) have too much tunnel vision to see both sides of the issues and arguments and make a decision based on reason and logic.

I fear Obama, is an extremist ultra left young fellow who will let power go to his head. With age comes wisdom, another reason I am voting for McCain.

Better keep adding good points about McCain. Obama bashing will not help. What is right with McCain.
