As someone new to your wonderful country, I was wondering if someone can explain what is an ATA Winter Chain shoot. I note that there is one this weekend at Livermore in California (my local club) from 28-30 March. So I assume it starts Friday (which I have off work)?

as far as I understand it, it's a fight to the finish for the
handicap championship of the world.. oops wrong channel :)

high score for the sunday handicap at livermore gets a shiny
gold coin buckle no matter what yardage you stand at.. ties
shoot off till one reigns supreme :) keep in mind there is
a 500 minimun target req else you shoot penalty ydg, should
be in the program. tallengr can explain a bit more if you
see him or call him. I'll be far far away.

Phil, a smallish nutshell, it's a series of similar shoots at different clubs - thus a chain of shoots - with high value trophies from the state organization and also better money to win. At the final shoot, there will be awards for remarkable high over all performances and so on in addition to awards at each shoot.
