Side rib is the the "rib" between the two barrels on an O/U.

I'm on my way out, couldn't find better pictures in my file, but this one might be clear enough to show two sets of barrels, right one with side rib, left one no side rib.

    EuroJoe,

It is obvious that you shoot a double barrel gun. Do you shoot bottom or top first? Two posts with the same ignorant substance. Looking at the pics of Steve W, why would one assume that you would call a solid rib BETWEEN two barrels a side rib?

The original poster asked a reasonable question....but an idiot like you came on his post and responded like a dork. Please don't insult me by responding that you were trying to be funny....NOT.

Thank you Steve W for being a gentleman.

    Bernie

It's not a solid rib between the barrels usually, it is two "side ribs" between the barrels of an O/U. One on the left and right. Sometimes joined at the end. Hope this explanation helps.

Maybe the Side Sighter is what they were talking about. Lets people who lose sight in their "shooting" eye still shoot off the same shoulder using their other eye...Bill

I think maybe I'm to blame for the confusion.. The Perazzi factory calls them mid-ribs.. as they sit in the middle of the O/U barrels..
