What I have come toike about Obama, or King Barry the Hopeful, is his relentless willingness to go back on his word to the various facets of his looney bin supporters. Like, all those bleeding heart liberals that wanted Gitmo closed, well, now maybe in about a year or so whenever, and now this about the the Bush/CIA redition program. You know, the one where we hand over terrorist types to friendly brutal governments who torture the hell out of them. Obama says, "good program".

    From the LA Times.

"Obama preserves renditions as counter-terrorism tool

The role of the CIA's controversial prisoner-transfer program may expand, intelligence experts say.

    By Greg Miller
    February 1, 2009

Reporting from Washington -- The CIA's secret prisons are being shuttered. Harsh interrogation techniques are off-limits. And Guantanamo Bay will eventually go back to being a wind-swept naval base on the southeastern corner of Cuba.

But even while dismantling these programs, President Obama left intact an equally controversial counter-terrorism tool.
Under executive orders issued by Obama recently, the CIA still has authority to carry out what are known as renditions, secret abductions and transfers of prisoners to countries that cooperate with the United States.

Current and former U.S. intelligence officials said that the rendition program might be poised to play an expanded role going forward because it was the main remaining mechanism -- aside from Predator missile strikes -- for taking suspected terrorists off the street."

That sound you hear is Trappy's head exploding. LOL

    Two terms of Obama

    Two terms of Hillary

(...you did recall that no Republican will be able to match Hillary's foreign policy credentials by then...didn't you?)

    buzz,

I hope the American people are smarter than that, and if not, that they wise up in the next 3 years.

timb99, it seems about half the voting public are smarter than that. Or just slightly less that half as it turned out. Those under 25 to 30 years old aren't so smart it seems. The MTV crowd managed to "Rock the Vote". They know little or nothing of politics. Or even the difference between liberal and conservative ideals. But their favorite rapper or Hollywood star told them who to vote for, so they did. That and the black vote, probably 90% the homosexual population, and a similar percentage of union members... That's why we have president BHO. cls

Switch, I wish you were correct. But, much to my amazement, many folks I know voted for him, too and they are not even close to the categories you mention.

I shoot at the Silver Dollar and am amazed at the gun-owning trapshooters who seem to be just regular folks who voted for him.

One, a very quiet, very nice guy, said to me the other day, "What choice did we have?"

I also come from a law enforcement background, and was a career prosecutor. Most all the folks I know there are, and have been, Republican Conservatives. Very few Democrats and virtually no liberals. Yet, many voted for him.

I don't understand it, and I sure don't like it.

I don't understand how people could vote their wallet rather than other, more important things but, even if their wallet is the most important thing to them, I don't understand how anyone could believe that "he" has the ability to fix even the problems related to our wallets.

Bob, I hear you. They were so excited about "change" they didn't realize the change could be for the worse. And frankly, the RNC didn't provide much of a candidate in McCain.

Wonder if Huckabee or Romney could have won? cls

There is something to like about Obama?

We must be talking about a different Obama than the anointed one.

The reason he is in is 3X the money all the media It should have ben a land slide it wasn't. I also blame the Jews who voted for him. If the Jewish vote had been all McCain it would have been much closer in the eletorial college.

Okay boys, be easy on our new President. He is not lying, he is just "scaling back" on his promises.

I think I will start using that term.

You "hope" people won't re-elect Obama, then elect Hillary? You hope they are "smarter than that?"

Well..."hope" is a one-way street in American politics, I'm afraid.

Remember all those teary, "African-American" eyes, reduced to a puddle of goo because a person of the "correct" race was now in the White House?

Well, remember there's another "historic first" coming down the pike. There will be a lot of teary, female eyes out there - some of whom haven't reached puberty yet - looking to cast another "historic" ballot.

That's right. Every time you're in a store, and see some 10 year-old girl with Hannah Montana sneakers on her feet, remember...that's the "Hillary Constituency" in 8 years. What's that, you say? Not if we educate her "properly?" Oh, don't worry about _that_. You can rest assured, her Social Studies teacher is going to spend the next 8 years "prepping" her about it.

Because, like, she's a woman, you know? And, it's, like, really historic, you know?

Here's a view from the Brits

The Daily Mail ( UK National Paper) wrote this editorial about Obama on 1/6/2009. (for confirmation, Google " London Daily Mail Obama ' s Victory") Obama ' s Victory -- A British view An editorial from the London Daily Mail A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality. A victory for Hollywood , the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros and Sarandon. Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion. Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition. A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers ' unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity. A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs. Congratulations America !
