The article at the link is about ATK's possible purchase of Remington and the Freedom Group.

That made me think of Blount and what happened to it. It's Flagship brand was Federal Ammo, but they owned a bunch of other companies in the outdoor and shooting/hunting industry.

Blount sold Federal to ATK, but what happened to all those other companies that were owned by Blount?

If ATK gets Remington the only other large US producer of ammo will be Winchester.

The link above is about ATK's purchase of Savage Arms, but the article mentions some of the other companies owned owned by ATK. Many of those I remember as part of Blount.

Yeah, we're in trouble if ammo producers consolidate. Look what happened to airfares.

Some of these holding groups, by buying up too many gun and ammo manufacturers, could attract the attention of the Obama administration in the form of an antitrust lawsuit. All sorts of mischief and monkeywrenching could ensue from that, not to mention big legal costs.

ATK bought Blount's ammunition business in 2001, according to the article on the above website.

    From ATK's website:

"ATK Sporting’s Ammunition division supplies small-caliber ammunition to federal and local law enforcement agencies, military and sport-shooting enthusiasts, and devoted hunters. Our ammunition brands include Blazer, CCI, Estate Cartridge, Federal Premium, Fusion, Speer and Speer Bullets."
