I amortize to gather some information regarding fees for doubles trap at your local club or range.

If you could post the fees for a round of singles and a round of doubles, I would greatly appreciate it. If you could also post your location, that would help.

I am doing this to see if it is typical for clubs to charge twice the singles rate for a round of doubles or if you get a price break when you shoot doubles.

Thanks in advance for your input.

We typically shave a buck for doubles... Singles $3.75/Doubles $6.50

We price our singles to be profitable, covering direct expenses (material and labor) and then add an amount to cover indirect expense - utilities, insurance, maintenance, etc. @$2.50/$1.25 - direct/indirect...

The second target really costs us NO more to throw than the cost of the material, but the labor expense is still factored in, making the doubles more profitable, using the same labor and utility resource... so we can offer the reduced cost and account for it.

$4/$8 We normally don't set a trap to shoot doubles, but recently designated 2nd Wednesdays as Doubles Day. We will set up a doubles trap and see if people want to use it. We are a small club and normally set up one or two traps when we are open. Mark

Why should a club a club subsidize doubles shooters?

What benefit to the club, if any?

    Joe,

they're not subsidizing doubles shooters. If you're paying pullers and setters there is not a true doubling of the cost to throw doubles targets.

Spitter's clubs approach is not wrong. They're just one of the few that do it that way. Most clubs just simply double the singles rate for doubles from my experience.

With Pat traps and voice releases we eliminate pullers and setters. Scott

We used to hire kids to keep score on practice rounds. When that became cost prohibitive, we just let squads turn the switch on, and shoot practice. We are a private club, and have a regular crowd that knows what they are doing and are honest and don't waste targets for the most part. Mark
