Keep in mind the smoke filled room.

    Laser light backlights smoke badly.

This means the perp could see the laser beam back to its source.

Whomever would be using the laser had best get on target quickly and not hesitate to pull the trigger, because they're going to become a target.

Plus, when you hit him in the back and put a big bruise on him, because he is wearing a bullet proof vest, he is going to turn around really pissed off spraying bullets at the laser dot target.

    "Mozambique Drill".

If you have not heard of it, look it up. And practice.

Considering the Aurora shooter was wearing body armor, this was a perfect case for it.

It generally consists of two shots to center of mass (chest area) and one to the head, object being the brain stem, but that's a small target. It has merit in getting around the issue of body armor.

It's not a perfect solution, since those with a revolver are handicapped against multiple assailants if they start using up half or more of their cartridges on a single perp.

One of the difficulties is assessing if someone is wearing body armor. It has not become that prevalent for CHL shooting, but the FBI and police have trained for this situation for many decades.

Where did you see shoot once?

Again, in this case, shooting everything but your target, in all of the commotion and turmoil, along with the surprise element, would be closer to reality. Never being in that situation before would also be a factor. None of us know what our reaction would be.

It is against Colorado law to bring a firearm into a movie theater, theaters are gun free zones.

Colorado might want to revisit that law. The suspect was no dummy, and knew there would be no resistance. He might well have gone in another direction if the law were otherwise.

This guy was obviously off his meds, and with the planning and organization would have done something horrific somewhere. Sad, very sad.
