If you are trying to stay focused you are fighting a losing battle. Let your subconscious mind run the show and you will finnish on top. HMB

Running those events takes guts and endurance, not mental precision endurance.

I'm wondering, did your run in high school or college ?

The total time to take the shot is 5 seconds or less - from starting the mount to finishing the shot. During those 5 seconds, you need to focus. If you cannot do that, you will not shoot your best.

I like the way Leo Harrison approaches it. He has a number of items he cycles through in his shot routine, but only focuses on two for each shot. Our little pea brains overload if we try to think about everything needed to make a "perfect" shot. In time, most of the attributes to a good shot become "ingrained"; but even someone as good as Leo has things that need more attention than others.

The reason I'm there is to shoot 1 or 2 rounds of 16 yd trap. Focusing on anything is needless thought. How hard is it to unzip a gun case, put on a shooting vest, ear and eye protection, take out a box of shells and slide them into the pocket. Go sign my name to a squad sheet. Anyone that needs tutoring or focus to do these simple things has not been practicing enough, is not observant enough or has low IQ. As long as your eyes are open they see automatically, no thought is involved and no focus either! This is not rocket science, why try to complicate a simple procedure. Breaking a target is easy and missing them is easier. Go focus a telescope and look at the moon.

I let the song "Jole Blon" by Harry Choates play in my mind and try not to let any other thoughts creep in. If I can do that I will shoot well.
