De Soto, yes, newer than 1953, I would guess 1955, year of the style change for the big 3.

Rick has it, I knew it wasn't the Firedome (top model, like Chev Belair) by the less strident trim.

The shape of the top and windows is 55, same as Dodge or Chrysler.

1961 was the last year for DeSoto.

    DeSoto.............As to whether it's a 55 or 56, I can't determine that.

    Here is a "56" DeSoto..............

DeSoto was produced up to November, 1960, with the last model year being 1961.

Does not have the same chrome trim or rear window that a '55 or '56 De Soto coupe has. Wayne

I just had one of my older customers look at the picture and he said it was NOT a '55 DeSoto.

The front fender emblem says something "fire" as best I can tell. Did Desota have a "spitfire" model? Sure looks like a 56 Desota to me. Hap

The 56' has the chrome on the rear window, that is definitely not apparent on the picture. Did the 55' have this as well? If not, there's your car!
