Have not seen any current shot prices. Just wondering are they going back up?

My club went up to $27.50 per bag (that includes tax) about 2 weeks ago.
It would appear that prices are probably going to start going back up but then who knows for sure. I would say if you want or need shot I wouldn't wait.
Remember what happened last year! Colonel

Doesn't the price of lead (not necessarily shot) go up every Fall? Something about demand for batteries or some such BS.

Last week we paid $23.50. This week it's $23.95. The next load is supposed to be a dollar more. (magnum shot)

Two Chinese smelters were shut down a couple of weeks ago. The price of lead has been climbing steadily and by a significant amount. Bill Malcolm

It will be above $30 a bag in the near future. The cost of lead on the open market is about $28 for the raw lead needed to make a 25 lb bag of shot. Add in antimony, labor, graphite, shipping, and energy costs and we are in deep dodo. HMB

The full story is linked above, but here is the part pertaining to lead ...

Battery making material lead was the worst performer among the metals, as it tumbled 7.5 per cent.

“The Antaike report has been weighing on the metal,” Mr. Heath at RBC Capital Markets said, referring to a report by China's state-run research body Antaike, showing the country's lead surplus is expected to grow this year.

The surplus is forecast to widen further in 2010 despite a wave of smelter shutdowns following poisoning incidents.

The US dollar has been tanking of late, but rallied yesterday at noon for some reason. All commodities traded in dollars reflect the devaluation of our dollar by increasing in value when our dollar goes down as well.
