  1. Westy Hogans Shoot Cancelled

    For Release 9/8/11

Due to regional flooding and several road closures, this years Westy Hogans has been canceled. The P.S.S.A. does not have any plans on rescheduling the tournament for this year. Anyone that sent in pre-squadding, will be refunded by check or credit card depending on how they paid. The P.S.S.A. would like to thank everyone for their continued support and we hope to see you for the 2012 shooting season.

Enough of us made it to Elysburg on Wednesday to make up a single squad, then got trapped by the rising river. Most roads were open by Sunday; although when we left this morning, PA 61 to Shamokin was still closed from Paxanos and PA 487 through Kanobles Grove to Bloomsburg was still shut down, with PA 54 from Elysburg to Danville finally opened through the narrows. We were able to make it OK to Sunbury and cross the river there, then on to Harrisburg on the West shore, and on down to Gettysburg without incident or trouble. Someone had scribbled on the dike at Sunbury "Thanks Wall"...enough said.

It was surreal up at the PSSA Home Grounds though, because it was just about as good, weather wise for a shoot, as I can recall, yet just a few miles away the Susquehanna was devastating anything in it's path. We had power and water at the trailer and mostly sat under the awning shooting the s*it. Spears dropped in from time to time keeping us updated on current local conditions. Thing is, the poor guy had 48 trap houses to unload without much help....after he got the mess cleaned up at the lower campground.

    See y'all at next year's Westy....mike
