Welfare now largest expense

    Heard a couple of talk host talking about this so I "searched" it. Welfare is now the largest expediture in the Federal budget. Larger than social security, medicare, defense.

    Crazy, why work? Time to get on the gravy train.

    Wife told me of a GO Go dancer making $80,000 off the books collecting welfare and food stamps . How many others in the USA doing the same in other trades ??

    bisi, the Republicans are playing games with numbers. They are citing 83 programs as "welfare". I offer this site as a direct rebuttal.

    The seven tenets of the United States States Constitution are;

    "In Order to form a more perfect Union,

    establish Justice,

    insure Domestic Tranquility,

    provide for the common defense,

    promote the general Welfare,

    and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves

    and our Posterity, do ordain..................."

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Section 8 of the Constitution states;

    "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States, but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States."

    The rest of Section 8 spells out what Defense and Welfare is defined as and it includes justice.

    So, it would appear to me, if the money we spend is not on Defense, it has to be on Welfare, because that is all that the Congress is charged to do.

    There is no Dept of Perfect Union, Dept of Domestic Tranquility, Dept of Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Dept of Blessings and Liberty to Our Posterity, so those tenets have to fall under Defense and Welfare.

    There is a Dept of Justice, and it can be used to promote Defense and/or Welfare, Tranquility, and the Blessings of Liberty.

    Whenever you look at expenditures of the government, the money for the Justice Dept is rarely isolated and when you do find it, it accounts for somewhere between 4 and 6%.

    So it looks like to me, based on the Constitution, what the nasty Republicans are saying as lambasted by that Left Wing blog Johnny posted, is correct and the blogger as most are, does not have a clue. Just another troll with a typewriter......just like we have here.

    The Congress has two named charges, to provide for the common Defense and the general Welfare. Congressional money raising and spending efforts are confined to those two things, thus the classification of how that money is spent has to be in only those two categories.

    Is that suppose to make me feel better Johnny? Is there any less money being spent since it is spread among 83 agencies? Let's just make it an even 100 programs so we can spend another half trillion?

    Calling a dog a cat doesn't make it a cat.

    The 83 programs are not listed. The Congressional Research Service says "welfare"


    Bisi, since you are so concerned about money spent on "welfare" have you ever wondered how much of the defense budget is actually "welfare" for the military industrial complex?

    So a non-partisan congressional research group says they are "welfare". OK you liberals here, prove otherwise. WHAT ARE THE PROGRAMS? You're the ones asserting they are not welfare.

    Google "Federal Spending" and you will see that Welfare is 12% of the total Federal spending, by fare not the largest portion of the budget.

    Remmember 20 to 30 years ago when the government deceided to start paying unwed mothers when they had children out of wedlock?

    Well, now we can see the results of that decision. Prisons are full, and people are collecting checks for nothing.

    We told them then that it was a bad idea, but the government knew better.

    Anything that makes their liberal socialist pals look bad upsets the liberals!-- Stupid statements about Defense spending being "welfare" While disregading the other "Dead Beats on the Dole" programs as welfare spending,shows how WARPPED their mentality is! Call it welfare or whatever!Give away programs for social dead beats who sit on their lazy butts, breed like rabbits, refuse to work, ALL on the working tax payers back, SUCKS!! This country will continue to produce these low lifes until they eventually bring it to ruin!
