Jeez, that pisses me off! I've always gone to some place and paid to get my income tax returns copied on one of the coin operated copy machines. I always did the copying myself and made sure that I didn't leave any documents behind. I had no idea that I was leaving a copy of everything I copied on their hard drive on the copier. For that matter, I didn't even know the copiers had a hard drive. Looks like I'll be buying my own copy machine in the near future.

    Thanks for the info.

There might be a reason I have a scanner attached to my PC and do my copies from there. I can clean and destroy any info on my systems before disposal. I simply will NOT use a public machine or any other that I have no direct control over.

A lot of PC's are disposed of with hard drives still in them. There is a lot of info that can be extracted even from a hard drive that has crashed. Most people delete files and then donate computer or just give/throw away. Not realizing how much info they just gave away. Also there are hackers that are very good at accessing files of computers logged into the internet. Identity theft is a big problem. The computer age is one of the biggest faults. And you don't have to own a computer to be a part of it. You would be surprised at how much of your information is available just because you have a doctor, a motor vehicle, pay taxes, own land or buy insurance. You are online!
