I need a black Winchester factory recoil pad for the recoil reduction system as offered on the 1200/1300 shotguns. The pad is unique to the recoil reduction system. Thanks - John
John,
Call me a dummy, but I am unaware of any recoil reduction system offered by winchester as a factory option on 1200 or 1300 models. If you could describe the system, the shooters on this site will help you iron-out what you have. Glad to take your call if you want to talk rather than type. Todd 256-762-6559cell
Todd: thanks for the response. If you look up Win 1200/1300 in the "bluebook of gun values", Win offered their "recoil reduction system" for two years in the early 1970's. Visually, the system looks like a hydo coil setup in that it uses a brown plastic stock and foreend. Mechanically, its completly different from the hydo coil and none of the parts interchange. Foe example, the hydo coil's rubber recoil pad was permanently attached to rear half of the stock, while the Win pad is removable. The hydro coil uses a hydraulic buffer similar to an automotive shock absorber; the Win system uses two large recoil springs. I don't know if the Win system also uses a hydraulic dampening action. I have two 1200s with this system, a trap gun and a field gun; my model 12 trap gun has a hydo coil stock and forearm. so its easy for me to compare and contrast. A previous owner removed the 1200 trap gun's rubber pad and replaced it with a nicely made, but non-original wood butt plate that attempts to match the color of the plastic stock. I'm trying to restore it to original.
Thanks - John
