What do you mean ( Seen the price of tomatoes ). I havn't seen a real tomatoe for several years at the supermarket. Only the ones I grow at home.

Yes I am putting a garden out also. Very big one. However if you think a garden is going to be enough I think you are wrong. When the bad times come and they are unless the bad BO is removed by impeachment. A garden is not going to be enought. Also you will need to stand gauard over it through the night. You think not? Better think again. The first ones to raid it will be any liberals in the area.

Sure WallyWorld is worried, almost everything they sell is going to be radioactive, I know the disaster is in Japan but by the time they dump all the radiation in the ocean nothing in that part of the world will be safe and it might just head our way too.

On top of that with Japans economy taking a hit from the disaster it will affect us too. Hopefully not the same way our stock market crash and great depression affected Germany.....if you think I'm nuts read what really caused WW2.

Oh for the days when you could walk down the aisles of WalMart and see all those proud Made In America signs that represented American jobs mostly at small factories all around the country.

In closing everytime I fill my tank and stop and buy groceries I feel like a victim of inflation, seems natural if you are on a fixed income and everything you have to buy is going up in price.

I don't see why any of this is a surprise. 70% of all wal-mart goods are of Chinese manufacture. As the the American dollar drops in value, their currency gains strength. This will ultimately cost us everything. We've not supported the "Made in America" for long enough now. The birds are coming home to roost. Given our current debt load, and the fact that the economy is still faltering we should just about to the end of this cycle in a year. The simple fact is that 13% of homes in the US are vacant and the foreclosure rates are expected to increase when people blow through their 401k money they have living on.

The stock market is based on one thing and that one thing is confidence. Now I know that you highly educated wealthy retirees will take me to task on that one but that's ok. But, regardless of how strong a company reports a balance sheet, if the price of oil spikes or there is a major insurrection somewhere, the market loses billions of dollars on the fear generated. Let's face it, everyday there is more and more news concerning some area of our lives that is crappier today than it was yesterday. I am giving up hope that any politician can solve this DIRE debt situation that we are in now. Demo's and Repub's just want to fight about the issue and blame each others administrations. The American public cannot afford this stalemate any longer.

If I was Hispanic I would sneak back into Mexico or possibly jump a ship bound for India. The job market there has been pretty good because the US has shipped all of our jobs oversees. According to the most recent census data, as a white male, I am becoming a minority. I also will have to learn Spanish because, well just because I can't wait on hold any longer to get to the English version of whatever it was that I was calling about. Build your bunkers now, can your food and prepare. The financial collapse of the US is no longer a question of if, but more a when ? Did the ancient Myans know that we were going to sign NAFTA ?? Ross Perot (sp) said during his presidential debate told us that great big sucking sound would be the jobs being sucked out of the US. Man that guy should sitting next to madam Cleo on the psychic network hotline.

Please tell me there are some positive indicators you can point to and say i am wrong. I am like everyone else looking for hope.

I wonder what the people thought back in the depression years. Now, think about how many more people it is going to effect this time around. You are going to have to fill your house and a couple of warehouses in order to last through the next one. Even if you do this, your quality of life is going to change, drastically. You will have to stand guard of your possessions 24 hours a day. That sounds like fun, doesn't it. People where more tolerent of each other, or more civilized back then. We are becoming a Third World Country. We just do not realize it yet.

All this by American and American jobs do any of you even think about that when you are filling your gas tank???? Or doesn't that count because you don't want to think about it??? Or maybe we should blame Walmart for that also.

Suffering is a part of life. People in the U.S. have been insulated from it, for the most part. I don't know that many will know how to deal with the impending lifestyles that will be necessary to survive.

APrice I am not a mind reader I know no more than you do but it is a safe bet it is foreign. As the majority of the oil is.

I just find it very interesting that everyone says that all the products that Walmart sell are made else where. Most haven't a clue as to what is and isn't imported. I also find interesting that when the discussion turns around to buy American. The Japanese aren't manufacturing parts for the auto industry right now for obvious reasons. The production of certain American made vehicles has stop because of it. Yet in these discussion always encompass the Auto industry.

So how would GM be a true American product made in America if the parts required to build them are made in Japan????? Or is that considered domestic? I know it isn't in my book how about yours?

BTW I will let the wise-a** remark about the Walmart employee slide for now.

I'm not sure why everyone singles out Walmart to pick on, and no I'm not a current or former employee of Walmart. Have you shopped at Sears, Home Depot, K-Mart, Lowes, Target, Tractor Supply, Dollar General or dozens of other "Big" stores and some "not so big"?. Even Aldi's sells chinese food products (not to me). Nestle's bottled water appears to be bottled in South America. Hershey's is getting lots of their chocolate made in Mexico. They are all GUILTY of stocking foreign made (mostly Chinese) crap. As for gasoline, Hess claims to be American made and Kwik Fill and Red Apple advertise their gasoline comes from North America, which I assume also includes Canada. I still can't understand why anyone still buys Citgo gasoline. Buy American when you can find it!! Larry Evans
