I found about 500 ACTIV hulls in my store room. Question is what wad does it take to load them, 1 1/8 ?

Thank in advance for any reply.

Load it like a Gold Medal with 12S3, federal primer.

I shoot nothing but Active and Fed Paper hulls and I use Fed 12S3 & 12S4 wads and I have since the 80's. All good. I have used or use PB, Red Dot, Green dot, 7625, Herco and others. Now if you decide you cannot use them???

My favorite load comes from an old Duster Wads reloading manual that lists 20.5 gr American Select powder with a Blue Duster wad and Win 209 for 1200 fps @ 8600 psi. The Green Duster produces better crimps with this load.

    ML,

These guys are on the right track. Activs seem to have a little more case length. If you are using Clays, (not much powder) you may need to use the 12S0 wad or copy for proper crimp even with 1 and 1/8 ounces of shot. Even though the Active is a tapered hull, it most closely loads to a Gold Medal.

Good luck, those Activs are great hulls, but if you are uncomfortable loading them, I would be willing to take them off your hands for a reasonable price.

Lyman Shotshell Handbook 4th edition has a half dozen listings for 1-1/8 oz. loads using clays with CCI, Rem, and Win. primers.

The following information from the Lyman Shotshell reloading Handbook for informations purposes only is to be used at your own risk. I have never used any of these cases so I make no recommendations on these loads or any others.
