Velocity ?

    If you load a shell for 1180FPS & use it in an auto loader how much if any fps would you lose when compared to a break-gun? I don't have a chrony. This is just for interest.

    I may be wrong, but won't some of the gas pressure that is being bled off to operate the gun, remove some of the energy that is being used to drive the pellets. It's been a long time, but for instance a 30-06 shot out of a Springfield 03-A3 did have a slightly higher velocity than one shot out of a M1-Garand.

    You may get a small velocity variation between the two guns because of differences in the internal barrel dimensions but not because of the action type. Any such variation will be meaningless on the range.

    Going out on a limb here (not really) but, if at all, probably not enough to measure on a chronograph, and certainly not enough to tell when shooting trap.
