A buddy ended up getting an 870 NIB skeet on a trade and has no idea if he got a good deal or not. 26", choke tubes, plain wood, never been fired. I told him I didn't think a pump skeet was a got ticket but who knows? Any idea of a value?

    Thanks

Collectable 870s ended in an era before choke tubes.

Skeet Grade 870s without choke tubes were made well into the pressed checkering period. 1979 rings a bell. The most collectable 870 Skeet Grades were those with cut checkering, especially the SC Grades with cut checkering an fancy wood. The early SC Grades had the SC stamped very neatly. Later SC Grades had the SC stamped on the receiver not so neatly, kind of an afterthought in small letters, but the wood was still very nice. Skeet guns below SC Grade were not identified as skeet guns except by the choke marking. They were catalogued as SA Grade but not marked as such. I am not sure about the facts about Model 870 SB Grade Skeet guns. However, I don't remember them being marked as such either, although TB Trap Grades were so marked.

I had an 12 GA 870 in the mid '60s that was marked SA. I was a newly wed and wanted a skeet gun and that was all I could afford.
