I am currently shooting a grade 3 Browning XT Trap 32" O/U. I shoot it very well and love the gun. I have the opportunity to pick up a Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon Combo (34/30) top single adjustable comb that is used but pristine. I can get the combo for $2800. I have shot it a few times and shoot it well. I feel with practice I will be shooting it equally well to my XT. Should I go for it???? I will need to sell my XT to fund the purchase and feel I can get around $1900 (+/-) form my XT with its condition (98-99%), the case, and set of chokes.

I kind of doubt you will be able to get $1900 for the XT as they seem to be for sale for less various places. You are gaining a two barrel set, otherwise I would stay with what you have.

I shoot an XT combo set and I also shoot a Beretta 686 combo set.

They are both nice, but do I shoot either better than the other?

    Nope.

If you are shooting the Browning "very well" why would you want to change? How many of us on this site have traded away guys we shot "very well" and later wished we still had them? My father used to say that if you had a gun that you shot well NEVER let anyone talk you out of it............AJ

Keep the Browning and get off the computer immediately. Shoot more...type less.

IMHO, you are talking about making a lateral move.....not an upgrade.

I agree that this is a lateral move and in my opinion you are unusual if you can shoot them equally well. It's been my observation that people who shoot Brownings well have problems with Beretta's and vice verse. I shoot an XT decently but I love the way my friends 682's look. Unfortunately when I try them I just can't shoot them worth a darn!

    It's not a lateral - it's a downgrade.

Your call - it is a slight upgrade, however.

Just start looking for a single barrel for your XT, I have a couple of shootin' buddies that did just that!...Now I can't seem to catch 'em..The XT single is hard to find, but well worth it in the end run!..Stick with the Browning, I didn't and wish I did.. (went through 3 Berettas before I got hooked on my P-Gun...LarryB
