IYR, I had a choke tube launch itself downrange from my Gold Label back in late April. I sent my gun in for repair in late June. OK an update from Ruger:

I have to wait until the gun arrives to get the full detailed report but they did repair my gun at no cost to me. Here's what they did:
    1. Re-barreled the gun
    2. repolished everything
    3. reblued everything
    4. Replaced the ejector springs
    5. Replaced the cross-bolt mechanisim
    6. Replaced all of the choke tubes
    7. Retimed the action
    8. Replaced one of the fireing pins (right side/blown choke side)

So far, no explanation for the failed tube. I'll post again when the gun arrives.

Can't ask for better service than that....you now have essentially a new gun!

Now, I can only hope this was an anomaly and something that will never happen again.

The "overkill" on repair is typical of Ruger. They mean to keep a quality product in the hands of their owners. The ONLY game rifle I will own is the All Weather M77 MKII series. It is the ACME of 1898 Mauser action sporting rifle designs.

Now, if they would come out with a Trap gun they would keep in production.

It is time for a Ruger Unsingle Combo.

I love the M77. Classic lines and they shoot.....under the worst conditions. I like the #1s too, but they are finicky when it comes to acuracy. I think the 10-22 is just about the best all around 22 semi auto ever made.
