My guys are in the process of digging this beauty up and we will be producing gunstock and rifle blanks in the very near future. Found on the border of Bulgaria and Turkey.

How long will the wood have to dry before it can be carved?

Doug, that will have a hell of root ball. It will take some serious equipment to harvest that one. Hope you find the gold in it. I know they don't always pay off. Larry

I have been in Bulgaria and the city of Burgas to the border of Turkey. As I was there buying gun stocks trees. All the trees in Bulgaria belong to goverment. You must have the correct papers and a perment, even to touch a tree. The cops hide everywhere in the forest, along the roads, when you drive by they stop you and ask for your papers, no papers you go to jail. I have been all over Bulgaria, these people are hard to do business with. Today is one price tomorrow is another price. As for the trees, Some are 1000 years old. As for the color in some of the trees is an orange with marble. And alot of the trees have no color. As for the tree in the picture it has alot of problems, what I mean is defects, you can't cut gun stocks from defects. I know my wood and trees as I have been cutting forty two years. I have wood from Bulgaria in gun stocks, it don't sell good in the states. Our Calif. wood puts it to same. Good Luck
