Has any one ever used unique for loading 12 gauge. I have 16 pounds of it that I bought for reloading 20 and 28 gauge. I seen recipes in the allient book for loads with this powder.

I just wanted to know what any one who has used this powder thinks of it.

    any help would be great.

Unique is an excellent 12ga. powder, especially for 3dr. 11/8oz 27yd. handicap loads. It's even better for call shots on Annie Oakley's or meat shoots. Load it and shoot it... You won't be sorry... Dan Thome (Trap2)

Trap2 is correct. I use it in FGM hulls for super-handicap loads. It also make an excellent .45acp powder. Wayne

+1 on the .45 ACP. Been using it since the '60s. Never thought about it for handicap. How many grains are you talking, wayneo? Gotta be more than Green Dot. Right?

Stokinpls, quite a bit more than Green Dot, thats why I'm using a FGM hull.

    1-1/8 oz. magnum 7-1/2's

    24 grains Unique

    Win primer

12S3 wad, or clone. 1250 fps. 9,800 psi.

How many grains you using in your .45acp, and what bullet? Thanks, Wayne

I use it quite often for caps. My favorite Winter Caps load is Unique with the Versalite wad, 1 1/8 oz of hard shot. I use it in either the Remington STS/Nitro hull or the Winchester AA. Anything from 1200 to 1250 fps will do just fine, as you prefer. There is loading data for it on the Alliant site. There are a few loads listed using the CCI209M Magnum primer that have worked extremely well in colder temps, while keeping the pressures around or under 10,000 psi. It serves double duty for 20ga and some pistol ammo. It is not the primary powder that I use, but I can go through a jug or two in a years time. It is not a powder for reduced loads. I would not load it in a 12ga with less than 1 1/8 oz of shot or much under 1200 fps.
