I was just looking on Pre-squad.com and note there are not many shooters pre-squaded for the U.S. Open. I expected a lot better turn out for this shoot. Should be a beautiful time of year in South Central Illinois. What’s going on? Why so few shooters?

Who's paying for it. The ATA said that they did not have the money.

It is a combination of mothers day, the Missouri state shoot the very next day, the on again off again that is hampering the shoot. At least that is what I think, I personally can't go because I would rather support my state shoot. When I get a little older and have more disposeable income, then probably. If it was at a different time of the year I would probably go this y ear but not with it the very day before my state shoot. John

A lot of us old codgers still prefer to show up and take our chances.

Not really into making commitments that I may not be able to keep.

I think there will be more there than you think......BUT, it IS mothers day weekend......kids are still in school which is hurting the youth participation.....and they kept changing everything about it. I sure hope it is successful since so many sponsors are out on the limb. It would be a shame if it isn't. we will be there..........

Take note that squadding and registration will be handled in the vendors mall west of the event center, so that's where you should park. The restaurant and bathrooms and so on in the event center will be available, of course, just the registration will be handled in the vendor mall.

Beside the change in the location of the registration be sure and note..

THE EVENTS START..... *****8 A.M.****** Don't miss your squads. Remember they REALLY move things thru down there! Don't want everyone to be shooting on the make up traps or having to resquad!

    See you there!

I think you have it wrong in regard to the Sparta complex was built for the ATA.
It was built for the State of Illinois (one of the most anti-gun states in the union) to make money off us poor shooters. All the ATA does is lease the complex for the 10-11 day Grand American and the ATA provided all of its Pat Traps for the traphouses.

Wonder why so early I have been used to shooting at 10 am or even 1pm at the local shoots.

Maybe they are just going to use 4 traps instead Thanks for the note there Lorna.

Guess I need to leave a few hours earlier then.

I was surprised as well Foggy........that was why I mentioned it. Might even deserve it's own thread......I am thinking people will be thinking 10 a.m. myself. If you check the presquadding it looks like with the traps they plan to use we will be done by 2 p.m. or earlier. I hope people look at the program on the website because I didn't get one in the mail so I don't know if they sent them out or not. I did get a tourism magazine in the mail the other day. Haven't looked at it yet.

I'll be there, as will ATA President Ray Greb. We look forward to meeting many of you there.
