"Tuning fork" type shell catcher for 1100

I remember seeing a shell catcher for Remington 1100's that looked like a "Tuning fork" that was inserted in the bolt in place of the bolt handle. They would catch the ejected shell and I think they would actually catch two shells in doubles. I haven't seen one in some time. Does anyone remember these?

I think they were called "impalers"...

yes I remember them, I had two gave one away and kept one. I really never liked them. It is hard to open the bolt and they miss alot of single shells and when I tried doubles it did not work.

Remington didn't recommend using them either. Too much weight added to the bolt putting excess stress on the rear of the receivers.

I have used them and had no problem, BUT (emphasis added)...you gotta be careful closing the bolt so you don't catch/pinch your finger. I have two - one I used in the late 60s; the other is brand new in the package - both in my 1100 parts box. Every couple of years I get nostalgic and use one for fun in a round of trap. They only work for singles. Best Regards, Ed
