    Can someone help explain how the Troy Handicap system works for a shoot?

    Thanks,

    Honestly, I have never heard of this system. Nothing ATA related. What sport are you asking about?

    This is for a Intra-Club Shoot.

    First--everybody shoots one (25) round from the 16 yd line.

    Then--everybody shoots one (25) handicap round with their yardage based on the 16 yd score they just shot plus 2 yards. Shooters score is the total of both rounds.

    Example; OK, lets say a shooter scores 24 in his 16 yd round?------so then he's required to shoot his hncp round from the 26 yard line. Say he shoots a 22 from there? Total score--"46".

    Most commonly a calcutta is held between the two rounds.

    Gary: At NHSC, you know the place, the Troy System was run with first round at 16 yards and the next round at the handicap yardage reflective of the score from the first round. 16 yards = score of 24: Handicap yardage @ 24 yards with score of 22: Total = 46. Similar to the explanations above, but easier to figure. Fred

    Yes, I've seen different variations too.

    I've seen it done like Fred describes, also seen it done;

    TWO rounds from 16 yds, followed by TWO rounds handicap (ydge based on AVERAGE of the two from 16----plus two.

    Most places will limit how close you're allowed to shoot hncp to 20 yds (men), 19 yds (ladies & kids) regardless of HOW low your 16s score------some places tho', the concrete's the limit (14 plus 2 = hncp from the 16 yd line).
