Will the new self cleaning piston work in an older 391?---Could you put close to 1000 rounds through a 391 without doing any cleaning---going to the NC state shoot, don't want to haul all my cleaning stuff & it looks like my new gun would't be ready----Phil
Thanks KK-just ordered one from Beretta--comes to $39.12 including shipping---will use it during longer shoots & hope the self cleaning feature works----Phil
Krieghoffkrusher is not me, but he is right. This is one of their "inovations" that I just don't get. I've never had any issues with the old piston design, other than them breaking ears off from time to time, so I switched to Angleport's "Unbreakable" design and have never had any problems.
I go about 2000-3000 between cleanings, whether it needs it or not. Don't forget the Breakfree CLP!
I'm not Tron either but my 391 regularly goes 2K(+) rounds without cleaning. No functioning issues at all, the cleaning is more guilt driven than a necessity. All original Beretta parts, the gun is 8 years old.
I bought one of those "self cleaning" pistons, and my wife will be quick to confirm that they are indeed self cleaning. That is of course so long as I clean her gun. Don't see a great deal of difference in cleaning the new one compared to the old one. Mostly alot of tadooo about nuttin.
