There will be a Triples Shoot (non-registered, of course) at Ogden Gun Club on Sunday, July 11, 2010 hosted by the Malad (ID) Gun Club.

The format is pick your partner.

$50 per team, $10 Lewis and Special Event. Shamrock Leather Prizes and Added Money will be awarded.

    Sign up is at 9am.

The 50-bird Progressive (also non-registered) will be shot after the Triples.

If you've never shot triples, you owe it to yourself to try. Grab a friend and come out to this shoot.

A map to the club is at the site above.

OK, what's a triples shoot? Your flyer is a little small to read.

You use an old Winchester trap with a modified arm; the trap doesn't oscillate.

Three targets are placed on the arm. When thrown, one target is a wide left, one is a wide right and one goes up the middle.

There are two shooters on a team. The shooter on the left has to break the left target and the shooter on the right has to break the right target. Then they can both shoot at the middle target. If you don't break your angle target with your first shot, you need to shoot at it with your second shot. If you miss your angle target with the first shot, and shoot at the middle target your team will get a zero.

    It is fun. And challenging.

Winning scores are usually around 125 out of 135.

A good team hits both targets together so that it sounds like two shots have been fired instead of four.

Hmm...would make it rough on those of us with only 1 barrel on our trap guns. Have to reload really fast! But it does sound fun.

I shot triples many years ago. V10 said it was challenging. I say his statement was an understatement. When I shot them, the trap was set to throw 75 yard targets.
