Did you try looking him up on the shooter information page of the ATA website? John

I know Pete Tryand, and have shot on the same squad with him with him numerous times. He is an experienced long yardage shooter and knows and understands the trapshooting game. Break 'em all! Tom Ruble

Pete is also generous with his time, and willing to help out a new shooter.

Don't shoot against him for money unless you don't care if you lose or not. He was and probably still is a very accomplished trap shooter.

Curious...Why wouldn't I want to shoot against him for money. What has he accomplished?

Looks like he used to be pretty good back in the 90's and all but quit.
Looked at Michigan. He won State Singles in 92. stayed at 27 av over 90% for a lot of years. What happened? He poke a eye out

You can tell by his ATA number that he has been shooting for a while since his number does not start with the year, but the state number. Good averages for many years. Some folks work at jobs and they really do not need the money, they just like the work.

I hope he does not look at this site and see the crap a bunch of wannabee internet losers, who could never make the 27 or win a singles championship, say about a fellow they have never met. The lack of respect for a former State champion is appalling.

9x4: What the hell have you ever done. Put your record out here. If you want to shoot for some cash go to Hammond and ask him and if he doesn't have the cash I will back him.

For the rest of you sorry asses have you ever had some personal problems, which are none of our business, affect your personal lives??

mobear; I hate to tell you but I know of 3 shooters who work for Cabelas and they seem to shoot quite often.

I don't believe the cheap shots and trashing of someone you don't even know and I doubt are even close to his ability. You can't be trapshooters maybe wannabees.

BIGDON, I completly agree with you on this thread.

9x4 and Ken X would probably have a hard time hitting their own ass with a bango, but they seem to think they can blast somebody they do not even know.

Seems kind of funny to me. the original poster has a computer but will not look someone up for himself (who put the D in Duh). There are responders who cannot figure out that many things happen to physical skills as we go through life, and a shooters last score is not necessarily indicative of the ability to teach or advise. Hopefully a number of you have heard of a shooter from Texas named Britt Robinson. Hopefully you will maintain your physical skills into old age. doesn't have to happen though. Bad things can happen to good people and you too could be on the sidelines instead of the shooting line.

OK, do I feel like a jerk. I went to Cabelas today and met Pete. Zardaz and Don. Your right he is for real. Speant almost 20yrs at the 27 without a reduction. Mich State team member a few times A 100 from the fence at Jaquas. 16th in the 02 Grand. 92 State Singles at Michigan. He owned a coupla bars in MI. Went thru a nasty divorce where his wife gave him a choice of his business or the custody of his son. Took the boy and started over at 50. He has lost a lot of sight in 1 eye (tumor) and can't shoot as well as before. But man..he knows his game. I was having a hard left problem. Pete talked to me about gun point of aim and being agresive. I went to the club this afternoon and it workrd very well. Pete...I'm sorry. Ken..Cabelas ain't so bad. He has his son and still plays with guns. Just gets paid to do it.

Just a note to the type of guy Pete is. A few years ago, Pete and I did some trading. I was considering attending the Great Lakes Grand for the first time. Pete offered me a room at his home and food and drink at his tavern, no charge. We had never met face to face. That's the type of guy who makes Trapshooting a great sport.

Pete's a good guy. I've dealt w/ him on this site and found him to be fair and honest. He was working at Bass Pro shops when I talked to him several months ago (in Vegas) and told ne he was taking this new job w/ Cabelas. I believe he said he is head of their gun dept. I'd say that's a little different than a clerk. Have to admire a guy that chooses his son over his business.

Just as a thought ... what did it all matter for anyway?

What made you think or even want to verify what somebody said is some thread or are you that damn distrustful that you must walk and swim around the world just to prove that it is round!

What amazes me the most is you actually went back a second time to ask him and talk with him just to verify who he is instead of just asking if he was Pat the trapshooter ... just amazing. I hope he wasn't thinking that whatever he might have mentioned to you was or meant in some sort of confidence as in not publishing a few of his life turmoils on the internet. Ya know some people like to keep some stuff private.

I was just in that store last week, they did'nt have what I needed and have to go back. I'll make sure I meet him. I probably have already shot with him but did'nt know his name.
