I am lying out a trap field in L.A.(Lower Alabama).

I thionk the best way to face the house is about 5 degrees west of North. Is this correct?

I would rather have it more east of North. Much of our shooting occurs at dusk and left angles are easy to lose going over toward the sunset.

That said, I don't know if there is a rule. I would think not because some people do not have a choice due to terrain.

Something like NNE is the best when considering the sun. Other background and terrain features must also be considered.

The field plans from Golden West Traps - who know a thing or two - indicate northeast.

I have read in old ATA rules 5 degrees east of north. Remember to adjust for magnetic declination in your area, if you use a compass. D Winter
