There are several on this site now. Remington 1100 TA and 870TC and a couple of Berettas. All less than $1000.

How about a Remington 11-87 Trap with outstanding wood. Barrel has been changed to a 26" with choke tubes. This gun is extra nice and will do double duty. $500 plus shipping to your FFL!!

See my thread above. Shortish LOP now without pad can be fit and adjusted for longer later.

    Doug,

I have to ask: Which arm takes a beating - trigger-hand arm or forward arm?

I recently attended an Advanced Law Enforcement Training Camp in La. One of the training courses involved shotgun with Brian Hoffner. Fantastic Defensive Trainer.

Anyhow, we shot a flat of "Heavy Skeet Loads", which were the 1290 foot one ounce Remmys, one hundred rounds of 00 Buck, and 50 rounds of Rifled Slug.

Most folks, including your truly, shot the 870 Police pump. Folks literally dropped out of the class due to recoil issues. I finished second overall in this very memorable class, but I will say I was glad when the last shot was fired. (trickery and deception will beat youth and skill!)

No recoil reducers, no vest, wore only a T shirt. My gun DID have a backbored barrel with a long forcing cone, and the Limbsaver R3 pad. They helped.

However, recoil from the Slugs popped a lens out of my glasses. LOL

Get that young man a Beretta 391 and he will enjoy shooting trap. Very little recoil if any if you shoot 24 gram shells. Great for a new shooters plus you can purchase a used 391 for about 750.00.

Good luck in finding the right gun for the 15-year-old.
