What does everyone who shoots in the winter in snow wear while shooting? Ideally I'd like something that is warm yet not very thick. Denims just doesn't seem to have the insulating properties that I'm looking for.

Nothing special, just a everyday winter coat but a size larger for better shoulder room.

Lined bluejeans work great and are very comfortable! Our winters are awful and the lined jeans get the job done...........Uncle Sam, Northwest Penna.

For me, Winter shooting begins in Mid Dec. and lasts until about March 1. On normal shooting days I will wear shorts and a light shirt. On the colder days, jeans and a long sleeve shirt are in order. On bitter cold days (50-60 degrees) I will have to wear a sweat shirt. In the Winter, I only shoot the Dixie Grand and the Southern Grand in Florida. For the rest of the Winter, I suffer in Virginia, and it gets really cold. We had one heavy snow last Winter that covered the ground (2 inches) for two days. Almost more than I could stand. I am in favor of Global Warming.

A good base layer and a Pavillion shooting coat do just fine. They cut the wind out completely and do the trick 20 minutes at a time.

Pat, thanks for the VA weather review. I have passed your email along to AL Gore, who has recently been appointed as the Playoff Scheduling Czar for Major League Baseball. The climate in VA is perfect for synergy for these issues. Al & Bud (Cryo) Selig are on the way back from Denver to check out your area now.

Ever get the feeling that Pat and Bill4807 somehow don't have the appropriate empathy required in this situation?
Serve them right when this lack of sunspot activity continues to degrade the tempurature until they share in our winter doldrums?

I can hear them now, "I'm thinking this frigid mid 60's weather is hurting my velocities!" "That last smoker seemed a little anemic".

I'm going to grab some of the Under Armor cold gear and maybe some ski pants.

    Under Armor is good stuff.

I don't need ski pants in SE MI - jeans are fine with the UA.

Woolrich shirts are great and all I use unless it gets really cold. Then a Pavillion coat is added.

UA also makes a nice light glove that works well.

RV4driver- How can water pipes burst? Did you hit them with something? I don't understand.
