Was wondering if anyone out there can tell me if the $25.00 per gun fee has been dropped and exactly how much ammo can be taken across the border. Specifically we are traveling to Whitehorse, YT and then on to Fairbanks for Alaska State PITA shoot. It will be a 600 target event in Whitehorse and 1300 target event in Fairbanks and we are not sure on the avialibility of ammo in either place. So we are concidering transporting all our needed ammo which might be a problem with the Canada customs.

$25 per shooter (60 day Permit) (shooter can have more then one firearm).

Your not suppose to put your spouse on the same form. The form is for each person bringing in a firearm(s).

1,500 rounds for target shooting events.

The 1,500 is duty free. You can bring more, but you may have to pay the duty. Have never seen them count the cases.....

Passport (flying or driving) or enhanced drivers license (driving only) to enter the USA.

Don't forget your customs form before departing the USA.

    See link....

Thanks very much for the info, we were told last year at Canadian Customs that a repeal of the $25.00 fee had already passed but it would likely take some time for it to be instituted. We will go prepared with all necessary paperwork and be ready to pay.

The border person was mistaken, no repeal!
