    Traders, quote: <i>"Brian,

Clearly, you and I will never agree on the basis for "rights" as regards to the 2nd A. So lets move on.

Since you and I are strong believers in the Constitutions, and i know how you feel about the 2nd A, How do you feel about the 1st.

You have avoided my question about the Issue of free speech. It's mentioned in the Bill of Rights, #1. So I will ask it again. On that right, are you willing to defend citizens rights that as a political statement deface or burn the American flag. Or, are you willing to take it away. The courts have said citizens have that right and there has been a failed attempt to take that right away via a Constitutional amendment."</i>

Traders, my apologies, but I missed your question in and amongst the horsecrap and noise from some of our mentally deficient trapshooters.

Yes, as much as it sickens me, I am against laws banning the burning of flags.

The limits of free speech are not measured by what is popular, but by what is NOT popular.

I put the Constitution and the Bill of Rights above everything else. They are the foundations and cornerstones of our freedoms. Too many died for them, and I will not stand for any erosion of them. It would be a slap in the face of every fallen vet to erode the First Amendment (or any other Amendment). These vets paid with their lives to defend something that others want to give away.

Thus, because I believe in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, my revulsion for flag burning becomes secondary.
