I have a 30" 12 ga barrel for a A303 Beretta, but I'm buying a AL390. I want the same configuration barrel on my 390. I searched here and found instructions on making the 303 barrel work on the 390. Are there any disadvantages to using the modified 303 barrel on the 390? (other than rendering it unuseable on the 303?)
Or should I just look for a barrel swap?

Milling the barrel lug does not keep you from using it on the 303.You can not really tell the barrel has been modified.I have shot them on both guns for several years.Only cost about 20.00.

You don't have to modify the 303 barrel in any way to use it on a 390 receiver. Just remove a bit of the metal flange on the 390 forend to clear the gas cylinder ramp on the 303 barrel. It is a lot easier to do this with the flange removed from the forend.
The only disadvantage in using a 303 barrel on a 390 is that you cannot adjust the speed of the bolt with a spring change. Others have said they had no problems with a 303 barrel on a 390, but I could not get mine to consistently eject empties.
