I am looking for a 1250 fps load for Federal Top Gun hulls. These would be
1 1/8 oz. loads with Federal 12S3 wad, Federal primer, and Super Handicap powder. Also, a related question with Super Handicap powder, is the powder drop really the same (20.9 vs 21.0) for Federal and Winchester primers with Figure 8 wads and AA hulls for a 1255 fps load?

    Thanks,

    Dan

Super Handicap is very dense and won't take up much space. With Gold Medals you're supposed to use the 12SO wad with that powder. I assume the same would apply to the cheapo Top Guns (amazes me anyone fools around reloading those things) and you won't be able to get a good crimp with the 12S3.

If you doubt Hodgdon'd reload data, call them, don't ask us.

I load Top Guns (and Estates)....

    I use a dense powder..700X

20.0 grs. using Federal 12S3 wad and 209A primer.

    Published speed is 1250 fps.

I get a great crimp and am using a Hornady 366 loader.

But do as Michael stated....check the published data provided by the powder manufacturer.
