I have some old Kendall OIl mechanical pencils from the 1950's that I would use but, although hard to believe, I actually make a mistake a couple of times a year. The problem is the gum erasers are now glazed and hard. Any way to soften these up so they can be used ?

Buy a box of the kind that you can stick on over the original eraser's.

The hard glaze may only be on the outside surface of the eraser.
