I have been trying to organize my basement. When I started reloading, (25+ years ago) I wanted to have a sampling of every wad on the market, so if I wanted to try something new, it would be on hand. I now have over 90k wads down there and some of them are quite rare. But, I also have too many common wads and would like to pare this down to a managable number. Is there still a market for Wads with the price of shot at an all time high?

I have some old Win WAA12 that are falling apart with age,
so you need to check them out.

Yes there is a market, depending on price and age. If you squeeze them and they break, throw them away. If they hang together, sell them. If yo want to get rid of them, take them to your club and put a good price on them.

I'll take anything that you have in volume that you will sell cheap. I am loading with Windjammers now, but I have pretty catholic tastes when it comes to wads. Please e-mail me with your delivered prices. Thanks, Kirby Kelley

How can wads just fall apart? Were they were exposed to extreme heat or what would cause that?

    Steve,

Plastic can crystallize over time. Usually it needs to be exposed to sunlight. I doubt that if the wads were stored in boxes or in a basement there would be any problems but I have never had wads that sitting around for 20 plus years to be sure.

I shot some trap back in the mid 70's, club winter leagues only. When I got into trap seriously 3 years ago I located 2 boxes of WAA12 wads that were stored in the basement, never exposed to sun or heat, and they crumbled when handled or the petals broke off. The reason I believe is the sovents in the plastic evaporated making them brittle. Check before you use them.

Second Vagura's post. Came across 25 boxes of AA wads. Never saw the light of day. Almost 100% would loose the petals if you handled them.

Wouldn't use them for targets but the crows never knew the difference.

If Hap doesn't take all the Lage wads I'd take what is left.

I will take an invintory and get back to everyone asap...

Shipping is expensive, so if anyone is in the northeast ohio area that would be best. just meet me at a gun club. But more on that later. Just a thought though... anyone interested in Winchester Handicap Wads? They were the ones used in the Black AA's. I have about 2500 of them. I have had them for years and never loaded them.

How about old shells? I had some boxes of shells I loaded up in the '70s that I just used up awhile back. They still went bang and I guess you would never know if the wads were bad or not. Could they somehow get dangerous?
