Eric Holder and the DOJ have ruled that the City of Toledo has to reduce the passing score for their police officer exam from a D to an F so that anyone who takes it can pass it.

Seems too many minorities were failing it, resulting in a police force that has too many caucasians.

Well, this oughta take care of THAT little problem! Who needs cops that have brains anyway?

My question is, why do they even need a test now? Just issue a gun and badge on a first come, first serve basis. And, of course, the NAACP thinks this is a great idea.

I'm sure the citizens of Toledo will sleep much better at night from now on.

    Love this country...

Don't worry..Darwins law and the rules of elimination of the weak (of the mind too) will kick in here ...dangerous situations will weed out the witless and fairly quickly would be my guess

A couple more thoughts on this issue:

    - I wonder if the DOJ and the NAACP considered the possibility that intelligent minorities are choosing other career options in the Dayton job market than becoming a police officer? Leaving only the stupid one's who are hard up for a job to apply?

    - I imagine the DOJ made no attempt to correlate failed applicants with high school transcripts to see if they were stupid there too. If so, the whole Dayton school system must be biased against minorities. They should be allowed to get straight F's and still get their diploma. That would make school more fair for them too.

WTF is going on in this country? Has everyone in government completely lost their minds?

I wanted to type "UNBELIEVABLE".....but then I had to realize this comes from the Obama/Holder DOJ which is easily the most racist justice department we've ever seen, so it's (sadly) NOT unbelievable.

Also, passing the Civil Service test doesn't guarantee that they'll become police officer. That only gets them in the academy. They still have to pass the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) exam. OPOTA is the governing body over all requirements for Ohio's peace officers. From a standardized final exam to minimum physical fitness requirements.

So basically the DOJ has just told Toledo that they have to hire more people that will most likely fail the OPOTA exam.

Sock, now THAT's not a waste of time and taxpayer money is it? LOL

At least it may be one saving grace that helps avoid their PD from being flooded with a bunch of black Barney Fife's. Maybe they should consider selective application of Andy Griffith's "one bullet" policy.

What is interesting about this is that the Dayton NAACP head said that this was crazy but was admonished by the national office of the NAACP.

Just up the road in Monroe MI. they busted the head of the Drug task force and his cronies for racketeering, drugs, pattern of corruption, theft, Tax evastion, money laundering.

The big part of their scam was kicking in doors then siezing all property of value, then sell it off to a third party and keep the money for themselves.

A good friend of mine had a lifelong goal of becoming a Cincinnati PO, he took all the tests and finished 24 out of 1600 applicants. They ended up hiring 60, he was not one of them, they hired minority applicants that had far worse scores than him. I sure am glad America is beyond its racist past.

If you dont like the outcome write the guy that controls the Justice Dept= The President of the United States and cite this case.

Put it on him- complaining here does nothing constructive.

Brwoning Potato: That story of someone finishing #24 out of 1600 and not being one of the 60 hired is an outrage.

In 2007, I spent a while in Ohio taking an OPOTA certified Law Enforcement Patrol Rifle Instructor course. I aced the course and easily passed the physical requirements. I was 61 at the time.

I am the "seasoned Citizen" in the green shirt, in the company of a Chief of Police, Instructor, CLET (Certified Law Enforcement Trainer) and Special Ops guy, the young one.

I have stayed in good shape most of my life and can still outperform many kids half my age, but my point is,,,, The OPOTA cert requirements are "less than brutal".

Sadly, Browning Potatoe' tale is common. I know of multiple examples of police hires that were not based on test scores. Life experience and qualified references meant little when candidates were being chosen for interviews.

The perfect civil service candidate is a gay black Jewish woman in a wheelchair with a Spanish surname and disabled veterans status.

Being intelligent and qualified are not at the top of the list (where they should be).

Maybe they should just bring up da boyz 'n da hood. At least they may have a chance of passing the firearms training - once the instructor teaches them how to properly hold and sight a handgun.

They would also know the location of all the crack houses and meth labs, valuable intel.

Doesn't surprise me. I took some classes at my local community college a few years back. They were pushing though people that couldn't even read or write simple English. I know, cause I was tutoring them. My high school classes were tougher than what I saw in this community college for the most part. But that was 1972 and the teachers these days are more a babysitter than a teacher. One other thing, the teachers in the community college made it a point to demonize the Republican party every chance they got. Just a handful of teachers were sympathetic to the Republicans. I kinda got sick of hearing some math teacher turning the class into a political science class. No wonder the kids didn't learn much. Jim

This is called normalizing test scores, in the words of higher education. In the real world it's called, dummying down test scores. This educational mentality has been ongoing beginning in he late 1960's as a result of the 1964 Civil Rights Legislation. Kind of like a great unescorted convoy in WWII where every ship has to reduce speed to the slowest ship. The end result was that the U-Boats sat in the middle and sank most of the convoy. Our system across all of society is malfunctioning and rotting from with-end as a result of this progressive dummying down for the last 50 years. Just look at who is president and who voted for him.

There are hiring quotas in place according to the percentage of the population that are black, white, green, yellow, and so forth ... My former partner on the Fire Dept was hired last out of a group of 12 that were put on the list as qualified (Passing score was 70 %) ... He constantly complained that he was hired last and his idea was that it was because he was black and the Dept. to that date was primarily white ... The testing was administered by an independent outside testing Agency for hiring, and testing for promotions as well ... I ended up in second place on the Eligibility list because the guy in front of me had some bonus points for showing up (thats a guess) and he was black ... When we all had to train to pass the States Certification courses, ironically the 6 black guys came in last of the 12 people who were training for State certification, my partner was once again DAL (Dead Ass Last), I placed first (1st) and continued to on with the training and testing until I became a State Certified Instructor (SCFF4) ... When the tests for promotions came along there were several long time fire fighters who wanted to take the test besides those of us who were qualified based on experience and knowledge but with less time on the job, most of them did not fair well even though they really were great at fire suppression and had a extreme amount of knowledge and experience on the job ... The lower part of the list of "Qualified" individuals were once again the trained fire fighters that were the black guys on our Dept ... (Anybody see a pattern here .?) ... The promotion exams proved pretty much the same outcome until the older guys on the Dept got depleated and then some of the experienced black firefighters got promoted ... When I was in training for Search and Rescue it was hard not to notice there were only 3 guys out of 11 in the group that were other than white and they all passed but 4 white guys didn't ... That was pass or fail, nothing in between ... The Depts today play hell getting enough people to test let alone the cream of the crop who are probably choosing other professions or are trying to be Politicians, so they take what they can get and pray it works out ... So, don't forget to say your Prayers at night or anytime you have a few idle minutes, and we will all be alright sooner or later ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
