and you think this only applies to dems? I always feel sorry for people who rag on a party always thinking their party is right. You probably vote for the party and not the man or ideas. hope that works out for ya. mark crist

    "From CNN.com

"The House passed an $819 billion economic stimulus package on a party-line vote, despite President Obama's efforts to achieve bipartisan support. No Republicans voted for the bill, while 11 Democrats voted against it. House Minority Leader John Boehner said the bill has "a lot of wasteful provisions,"

Yep Mark, 11 out of 240.

I just love responses that aren't backed by facts or even thought through....

Voting for the party and not the man....hahahahahah. What about the ones that voted "color only"? The dems have had the majority in congress for the last 2 years and it the worst lane duck congress EVER!! They closed down early for the holidays and Pelosi went on a book signing tour while the rest of us were struggling with 4.00 a gallon gas. Go ahead and try to rationalize that to the rest of us please.

There needs to be a law so you can only serve one term as a congressman or senator. Might eliminate some of that good ol' boy under the table pork and crap that we find out about 6 months later since we have no journalists left here.

The "stimulus package" will take up to 2 years to produce "stimuli" to our economy,,,,ELIMINATE taxes for 4 months and watch the economy take off!!!!

Can't do that though as the worker would REALIZE just how much they TAKE from US!!!!

Well Mark from the vote today 229 Democrats for the bill and 11 against I guess we can conclude it applies to 95.4% of the Democrats. By the way the bipartisan vote was AGAINST the bill not FOR the bill. There are a few Democrats who are not for socialism.

Let's get some accuracy here. The vote in the H of R was 244 Socialists/Communists/ Democrats voted YEA and 188 voted NAY. The vote against this Marxists redistributionist plan was BIPARTISAN. 11 Blue dog Democrats voted with the unanimous position of the Republican delegation. The vote for this BS was strictly partisan, all Socialists/Communists/ Marxist/ Democrats.

What will Comrade Pelosi now do with the eleven that strayed off the collective???

Waterhouselake, you are right. I was using the numbers quoted above. I have to revise my percentage of Democrats to 95.6%. It only gets worse. What will happen in the Senate. Some of the Republicans will stray I am sure.

There are conservative Republicans and there are rinos. The rinos are not always right in fact most of the time they are left with the majority of Democrats.

Not all Republicans are conservatives but all Democrats are liberal. When you become a Democrat you join the party. Parties have stands on the issues. The Democrats are the party of the left. Anyone with even half a brain knows that. The media does push the more liberal Republicans down our throat. McCain is more liberal than conservative as was Bush. Obama is all liberal as are Pelosi and Reid and that homo from Massachusetts. They are ALL socialists that are trying their best to make us a completely socialist nation. As the government gains power you lose freedom. Only an idiot can't see that. But idiots that vote for Democrats will gladly give up their freedom to have a government tit put in their mouth.

Thank goodness for the 11 Democrats in the House of Representatives who voted against it. My hat's off to those who do the right thing and oppose this expensive boon. Darrell

Sorry, this one is all Democrat from top to bottom. It is so bad they couldn't even coopt one Republican and lost 11 of their own. What else could we expect from Pelosi and company.

Challenge to those that attacked the stimulus package here: (BTW, I thought some of what I saw of the package was short term and absurd and wouldn't build wealth...but that's not the issue here...) Just so you folks don't suddenly get angry thinking I'm in total support of the package. But...can somebody here versed in economics and business give a clue on how to best effectively spend the money to best insure a running "economic machine" for not just now, but for a long term?

Sounds like a very tough problem; and, "should" government be a co-owner of a large business/industry, such as steel, ship building, car making, etc.? It seems that's done in some European countries, but is it a viable way to go, let alone an ethical way to go?

So assuming you had 825 billion bucks and were told to spend it to infuse our economy for long term growth, what would YOU do? I haven't a clue, btw.

    Thanks..
