Alright, we had the Yeti Cooler thread. I can't bring myself to spend 300 on a cooler. But, what about the Tilley hats? They are expensive for a hat, but they look like they could be very effective. Cheaper than a dermatologist appointment anyways. Opinions?

I did all the research and "hands on". I have only wore it a couple of times but I am happy I bought it. The wife about sh*t for 75.00 for a hat. They are guaranteed and are prorated so that if you ruin it or (i think) even lost it that Tilly will help with some of the replacement cost. Cabela's is a great place to look at the many different models that are offered---I don't know how one could order one of these on-line, I could not.

They claim they are so durable that an elephant ate one, it was recovered coming out of the other end of the elephant, washed off in the creek and was in perfect condition.

    Ne report on the elephant.

If you try one you will never be without it when shooting in the summer. They are great. I've thrown mine in the washer a couple of times & it came out like new.

I've had one for years. They are awesome hats. However, I would recommend getting one with the vented material as the solid ones are a little warm.

If you need to worry about how hot brass gromments get on a hat (that doesn't touch anything) you shouldn't be outside. lol

I got my first one at "The Grand" in 1991 and wore that one out and they gave me a new one. I own 3 summer and also the winter hat and love them.

    They will not shrink........

I can't comment on the Tilley hat as I have never owned one but I highly recommend the Sun Tamer Hat. This is undoubtedly the best hat I own for keeping cool, for sun protection, it's 100% waterproof and it's cheaper than a Tilley.

Best $75 I ever spent. They are wonderful. Craftsmanship and materials are very good unlike most of the other foreign consumer crap we get these days. I would higly recommend.

If you like the hats, you should try the shorts and other clothes.

    They hardly ever wear out.

    Washing instructions "giver hell".

    Made in Canada.
