I was coming back from a job today and the route took me by the gun club. Thought I would stop in and say hi, and get a pop. Well anyway there was more than the usual retired crowd there during the day. I asked 2 guys what they were doing there during the middle of the day? Both of em had lost their jobs in the last week or so. They were just hanging out. Both of em are in their middle or late 50s. Another friend of mine lost his job 2 or 3 weeks ago. He is a mechanical eng. worked the same place for the last 25 years, 55 years old.

I thought this was the summer of recovery? I hope those guys can find something, but it is going to be tough. If they do find something I'm sure it will be only a fraction of what they are making now.

2 or 3 years ago, I didn't know a single person who was unemployed. Now? Heck I don't think I could count em all. All of em are men in their 50s.

    Save your money.

1.4% national growth this quarter, double dip recession looming. Where are all the Obama Einsteins we use to here from?

The only way out is tax breaks for business, and recend some of these stupid mass spending bills .Hope it is not too late.

The Obama einsteins only come out before an election. Be patient, you'll see them again.

Friends don't let friends vote Democratic. Democrats are socialists at best and Communists at worst. They really don't know where jobs come from. Taking more money from taxpayers and giving it to the government was doomed from the start. Anybody with a brain knew that. Only stupid people are Democrats. Only stupid people are liberals. I am so sorry that me and mine have to go down with them. They deserve everything they get.

There isn't much that can be added to highflyer's post, except maybe the following.

I'm reprinting one of his previous posts, that sums it up as well.

"I can't believe anyone is stupid enough to be a liberal when they are wrong on every issue."

    Well said, highflyer..

    Liberals are a disgrace.

I am a public school teacher in Florida, so I guess I'm one of those government employees. Don't lump us all into one group though. Over the past two years I have seen a reduction of 6 positions in my school alone, and we haven't had a raise in three years and don't have one in sight anytime in the future. There has been a freeze on experience steps, so the younger teachers have not received credit for their experience on the salary scale either. We lost our planning time during the school day and teach straight through. Imagine being allowed to go to the bathroom only at 7:30, noon and 3:20, bet many private sector folks don't have that benefit. But we do get 30 minutes for lunch during the day, but after escorting and picking up students from their lunch it's really more like 15. I am grateful to still be employed after 36 years but I really get PO'd when I hear about all government employees having it so easy. (By the way summers are unpaid vacations-last check in June, next one in September. Used to be able to find summer jobs but not for the last three years)

Here in Boise unemployment is one of the highest in the country. There are 10 homes in my subdivision being foreclosed on. These homes were worth $275,000 - 375,000 a year ago, now $150,000 - $200,000 if you can find a buyer who can get financed. Unions??? Ha, they were the origination of the Amercian worker with his hand out and not wanting to do anything for it. They are not the solution but instead the problem. If anyone thinks it is getting better, they are smoking too much dope. Nothing is happening in the housing and building market and an economy will never come back until it does. It does not revolve around the auto industry, it revolves around the housing market. Obammy has his head up his butt

We have yet to see the worst of this depression. The last depression took from 1929 to 1935 to reach it's full impact. Buy physical gold and silver.

Tom,I agree with perazzi2, you work for the government at the locale level, & you are feeling the hit just like the rest of us that punch a time card & carry a lunch box. I do NOT see where anyone at the federal level has taken any hits, it seems bussiness as usaual. Danny
