Remember the character Edward G Robinson played in the film? Reminds of some people we have on this site.

I watched part of the movie last night - you're right - epic.

Have it and Ben Hur on dvd. Watch them often. Both are epic.

And yeah, Dathan (played by Edward G. Robinson) is a persona worn by many who would sell their brothers out cheap.

Epic considering the year it was made. Special affects no, production yes.

That is one of our major problems today yakimaman.

Technology has ruined a lot of people especially the youth. The more "unreal" it is the more they "believe" it to be true!!

Just look at how and who is falling all over themselves about "zombies"!!

    You can't fix stupid.

The Ten Commandments rates right up with Gone with the Wind, you can have all the modern day garbage. The only "Class" movies lately are, Saving Private Ryan and The Band of Brothers in my book.

I was able to catch "The Quiet Man" this past St. Pat's day. It's still around.
I thoroughly enjoy that one, and I don't have a drop of Irish blood in me.

I also watched the Ten Commandments the other night. I really enjoyed it.
Those were the days of great movie production. The Robe, Ben Hur, Spartacus.
    Great stuff. John

I still marvel over Ben Hur. There will never again be anything like it.

I'll bet most people going ga ga over Russel Crowe's tiger scene in "Gladiator" never saw the tiger scene in "Demetrius and the Gladiators" (the sequel to "The Robe"), or even heard of the movie.

The soundtracks for "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben Hur" are available in video format on You Tube. You've need to use Firefox with the net Video Hunter add on to capture and download the flv or mp4 files. Downloaded the "Ben Hur" soundtrack last month.

I have not yet found a free converter I like for extracting and converting the audio out of the videos.
