The following "Ten Cannots" were written by Reverend William John Henry Boetcker a Presbyterian minister. They were first published as a collection in 1916. I'd forgotten but they were quoted by Ronald Reagan at the 1992 Republican National Convention in Houston.

They were true statements then, they are true now, and they will be true in the future. The Ten Cannots explain why socialism in Europe and socialism as practiced by obummber and the Congressional democrats has never worked and never will work.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot help little men by tearing down big men.

You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

You cannot build character and courage by destroying men's initiative and independence.

And you cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves.

If I didn't know better, the 10 Cannots sounds like a Union Motto.

The enemy cannot understand the "nots" because of their mental illiness, which is demostrated because they try the same thing over and over, each time expecting a different result, but do not understand the laws of economics, supply and demand, morality and conviction.

"union motto", now that's funny since the unions stand for exactly the opposite. Just a look at who nearly all unions have supported in elections is proof of that. Add to that the fact that virtually all union leaders are socialist or evern communist.

I belonged to the UAW years ago when I was a young fellow. It didn't take me long to realize it was a pos. I soon took another job and started to prosper. I wasn't going to let that line of crap they was trying to feed us go down my throat. Once I started using my own mind and not listening to their good deal bullshit me I started to prosper. By the time I was 39 I had our home paid for. I said our because my wife contributed just as much as I.No car payments and no montthly payments of any kind except the regular utitlies and Food bill.We did it without no Highschool diploma. That was when if you had a goal you could work hard towards you goal and was looked at what you could do not what kind of bullshit sheepskin that cost thousands and got back dumb. What a upside down bunch of minds this country has breed. Wild Bill

A comment on another thread about political apathy prompts me to quote Reverend Boetcker again.

    Seven National Crimes

    I don’t think.

    I don’t know.

    I don’t care.

    I am too busy.

    I leave well enough alone.

I have no time to read and find out.

    I am not interested.

Galt, your spelling isn't much better. Your punctuation is good, however.

This is why Reagan cut spending and always produced a balanced budget.

    "Deficits don't matter" Ronald Reagan

Another misquote by a misguided slimy Liberal.

    The full Reagan quote is:

"Deficits don't matter, as long as they aren't used for tax breaks"

    Get it right birdbrain!

An intentional misquote, falsehood, halftruth, or whatever you call it, is a lie.

If you want any creditability to your posts, stop your damn lying.

Rick, The second half of your quote does not nullify the first part. The first part can stand alone.

Gee, I must have Reagan mixed up with Dick "deficits don't matter" Cheney.

I am probably also wrong about Reagan tripling the national debt.

Yes johnny you are wrong because:

1, You never quote anybody, except in full if you wish to look even halfway smart and we all know the reason you tried that was to discredit Reagan.

    2. Reagan had a Democrat congress, both House and Senate.

Now I know a lot of "you people" don't like civics, but the Constitution requires spending bills to start in the House, pass the Senate and then get signed by the President.

Yes, he could have vetoed, but to what purpose?

Look at the buffoons in office now. The Senate refuses to pass any budgets that the House has sent, and the Dems have the majority in the Senate.

Reagan's deficit is nothing compared to Obama's. We did not have unemplyoment over 8% for 4 years and now the military spending is less than the social programs.
The debt is the real crisis and never was it greater than our GDP, like is is with Obama.

One final point, if only partial quotes of Obama were posted, it would like he said something intelligent when he opened his mouth.
