With an astonishing 47-point rack giving the deer a score of 312⅜.

Thanks for posting, Doc. That's sure a lot of antler on one deer!

I know this may sound like sour grapes, but I swear on my mother's grave I am just not that into non-typical whitetails. IMO, they lack that "regal beauty" that a large, typical rack has.

Show me a 200+ inch typical (like the Iowa bow kill posted in an earlier thread), and I get excited every time!

You know Claypoppy I don't think it sounds like sour grapes to me, I am in total agreement.

This will be a new world record and it cannot hold a candle to the mass and symmetry of big bruiser typical's.
This is only a three and a half year old deer with a freak rack.

But you have to give credit where credit is due. It happened in nature and not some "grow your own pope & young buck" farm spewing out those monster ridiculous antlers for high paying clients.

The kid can probably make a living off of this buck until someone comes along and tops it.

Yeah, but I'm envious thinking of all of the fun he will have trying!

Where on earth does this thing eat to get mutant antlers like that? Right beside a nuclear power plant oufall? A chemical plant garbage dump? Thank the Lord it was killed at 3.5 years old, before it spread its genes too much.

Hopefully he bred a lot of does before he met his demise.

Normally in deer that have total freak racks, they have been injured somewhere in the past, like a broken leg or something. But normally it only affects one side of the rack, normally the opposite side from the injury.

Wow what a rack! I've read, somewhere years ago, that deer hit by cars - but lived - often have rather deformed racks (not that this guy falls into that category).

I wonder how many times his sheds were found and we never heard of them?

Outstanding non typical. Wondering if the "Hanson" buck still rules the roost in the typical category ?

So far, but there is one doing the mandatory drying time that will give it a run for its money. I believe it was killed in Iowa.

    Edit: It was in Ohio.

Re-edit: It appears the Hanson buck had already been beaten by a buck killed in Wisconsin.

That is not the only record book buck killed in this county this year. We had a new state record typical killed on Thur. of the next week and on Sat. that record was broken for a typical buck. I onny live about 500 yds from where that deer
was killed and never saw him this year, but I saw him quiet a bit last year. They put some new homes in part of that cornfield and he moved over to the other side of the field. Our problem in this county is no one is hunting any more.
The youths seem to want to sleep late and play games on their phones.

That deer almost cost me head injury as I said aloud," nice rack" and my wife stopped, spun around ready to club me with the glass pitcher she had in her hand, but years of combat kicked in as I spun the laptop real fast to show her the deer pic. But it was real close! thank goodness she is slowing down a little these days.

I'd take a non typical any day of the week.

Sure, I would too. Much better than no deer at all.

BUT, if I had a 200+ inch non-typical standing next to a 200+ inch typical, I shoot the typical every time!

I kind of like the racks on Remdogs threads better!
