For those of you that are carefully watching the pending legislation- Is there any talk about reducing va health benefits?

I'm concerned about that too, I'm 60% disabled from combat wounds and I depend on VA healthcare FWIW. Haven't heard the politicio's mention it yet but if they'll gut medicare to help pay for their new universal healthcare what makes us think that they wouldn't do the same to VA healthcare?

    ......for now perhaps?

To play the devils advocate; WHY would the gov't continue to fully fund the VA healthcare system when EVERYBODY presumably be covered by the new UNIVERSAL healthcare program? Are we so naive as to assume that the veterans will be the only ones besides the congressmen themselves who'll be exempt?

VA, not yet. TriCare, there is a recommendation by the CBO to screw us over. I found the actual Congressional Budget Office's "Budget Options, Volume I, Health Care" dated December 2008. You can find it at:

    http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

The part where they hose us begins on page 175.
